Online Therapy for Habits and Addictions in California

Changing a habit can feel difficult even when you know it is affecting your life. Resilience Collective Psychology Group offers online therapy for habits and addictions throughout California, with a practical, collaborative approach to the changes you want to make.

Sobriety and harm reduction: start with your goals

Dr. Brandon Mason works with adults using both sobriety and harm reduction models. Sobriety focuses on stopping a substance or behavior. Harm reduction focuses on reducing harmful consequences and making meaningful changes, even when stopping completely is not your current goal.

We will discuss what you want to change, what has helped or gotten in the way before, and what a realistic next step could look like. Your treatment plan will reflect your concerns and goals.

What we can work on together

  • Recognizing the situations, thoughts, emotions, and routines connected with a habit.

  • Developing different ways to respond to urges and difficult feelings.

  • Building routines that support your goals and relationships.

  • Understanding setbacks and adjusting your plan rather than treating them as the end of progress.

  • Addressing anxiety or other concerns that may be connected with the pattern.

CBT, mindfulness, and ACT

Dr. Mason uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behavior and to practice more helpful responses. Mindfulness can help you notice urges and emotions before acting on them. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on responding flexibly to difficult internal experiences while taking actions that reflect your values. Exposure therapy may also be used when appropriate to the concerns being addressed.

These approaches are tailored to you. Sessions focus on understanding your patterns and identifying practical steps to use in everyday life.
